Secretary General of Pakistan Shia Ulema Council Participates in World Religions Conference in Thailand

The Secretary General of the Pakistan Shia Ulema Council attended the World Conference of Religions in Bangkok, Thailand, highlighting the vital responsibility of religious leaders in addressing contemporary global challenges and promoting peaceful coexistence among nations and faiths.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Shabbir Hassan Meysami, President of Zahra Academy Pakistan and Secretary General of the Pakistan Shia Ulema Council, took part in the international conference titled “The Role and Responsibilities of Religious Leaders in Light of Contemporary Global Challenges”, which was held in Bangkok at the official invitation of the organizers. During the conference, he delivered a speech outlining the ethical and social duties of religious authorities in confronting global crises, including violence, injustice, and cultural fragmentation.

On the sidelines of the conference, Meysami held a series of meetings and discussions with scholars, thinkers, and leaders from various religious traditions. In these engagements, he underscored the necessity of strengthening interfaith dialogue, fostering mutual understanding, and expanding cooperation among religions as an effective response to growing global tensions.

As part of his visit to Thailand and within the framework of activities of the Sadiq Sharia Solutions Institute, Meysami also met with Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Imanpour, Head of the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization, as well as Nasiruddin Heydari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Thailand. The meetings focused on key cultural and religious issues, as well as avenues for enhancing joint cooperation at regional and international levels.

During these discussions, Meysami praised the constructive role of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand and the Islamic Republic of Iran in advancing interreligious dialogue and cultural engagement. He emphasized the importance of developing structured and institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, describing it as a pressing necessity of the current era that could yield broad benefits for both nations.

He further stressed that strengthening interfaith and interreligious convergence is essential for promoting peace, justice, and social harmony, noting that religious leaders have a decisive role to play in guiding societies toward coexistence and moral responsibility in an increasingly complex global environment.
